Stunning images show tropical flair in Tradewinds redevelopment
TropicNow gives you an exclusive look at the beautiful design and tropical architecture set to transform the Rydges Tradewinds.
These are the ambitious and stunning tropical design plans for the $100 million redevelopment of the Rydges Tradewinds and an adjacent site on the Esplanade.
A tower dominated by a turquoise facade, vertical gardens, cascading pools and landscaped outdoor areas are among the key features of the project being undertaken by the GA Group and its Cairns-based project managers Prime Constructions.
The Rydges Tradewinds redevelopment is the first of GA Group's two local projects, with its twin tower development on a massive vacant block on Abbott St set to begin construction in late 2017.
Internal building work on the refurb has already begun, with Prime currently advertising for suppliers and contractors to help build the project as it ramps up in the first half of 2017.
GA Group's managing director of hotels Mark Davie has previously said the Rydges Tradewinds redevelopment will reflect a Great Barrier Reef theme, while its twin tower development will include rainforest design elements.
In the latest edition of Tropic magazine, Mr Davie said:
"In everything we do we look for key openings where we can stand out from the crowd. So whatever we do in Cairns - and we're looking at a whole lot of opportunities now - whatever we do here will be completely different from what is currently in the marketplace."
