First look at Nova City as global sales campaign ramps up
Stunning new images and video just released to prospective buyers around the world are already working as the much-anticipated Nova City secures its first sales.
The long-awaited Nova City moment of truth has finally arrived: the multi-million dollar display centre at the Spence St development will open its doors for the first time on 27 October.
The VIP sneak preview of Nova City's display centre - which is understood to contain precise replicas of the off-the-plan apartments - comes as real estate agents ramp up their sales efforts around the world.
A stunning sales video exclusive to TropicNow showcases the development with fly-through animations interspersed with beautiful footage of the Cairns and Tropical North region.
TropicNow understands at least two of the penthouses on offer in the first tower have already been sold to a local buyer.
Sales campaigns across Asia including Japan, Malaysia, China and the developer's home country of Singapore are gathering pace with glossy brochures, social media campaigns and a slick video all hitting the market in recent weeks.
The sales pitch includes apartments available for purchase in the first tower, dubbed Nova Light. The 17-storey tower is expected to be completed in 2020.
An apartment on level 1 is selling for around $485,000, while level 11 units are listed at around $700,000. Penthouses already sold are believed to have fetched just over $1 million each.
The Nova City project in Cairns is now one of the key priorities for Singapore's Aspial Corporation and its development arm World Class Land.
The project had been somewhat delayed due to the company's recent retail bond offerings on the Singapore stock exchange and the successful completion of its Melbourne skyscraper project called Australia 108 - the tallest residential building in the southern hemisphere.
With both of those issues now resolved, building activity at Nova City is expected to increase exponentially over the next few months.
According to CA Architects, a Cairns-based firm responsible for the design of Nova City, the tower project utilises "the history and context of the site" to create the masterplan.
"Movement through the site follows the meandering course of a sculptural glass canopy. This canopy is an architectural metaphor reinstating the original condition of the flowing creek landscape," the firm's website states.
"It provides a shaded pedestrian connection flowing from Spence Street through to the foreshore district. The organic form pools around the central tower gently rising over the ‘lagoon’ plaza where the community gathers to enjoy restaurants, coffee shops and entertainment.
"The branching glass and steel canopy provides a soft filtered light sheltering the vibrant street life below. Nova introduces a new dimension of public space to the city.
"The creation of a pedestrian-focused streetscape lined with outdoor dining and retail outlets is unique in Cairns. The intimate scale and cosmopolitan café culture nestled amongst a landscape of sparkling ponds, waterfalls and shady street trees provide an unmistakeable sense of place.
"The podium deck links all seven towers above the street. This luxurious tropical urban habitat has variety of spaces to explore.
"As a result of this “big idea” approach, we have been able to develop a flexible yet coherent building and landscape language which gives order to the development whilst allowing high density accommodation without becoming oppressive.
"This has allowed us to achieve development approval for much higher density and taller buildings than meet the deemed-to-satisfy parts of the Cairns Planning Scheme."
