Tropic Weekender: Your insider guide to the best events this weekend

This might just be one of the biggest weekend of events Cairns will see in 2018.

But first, the weather. We can expect partly cloudy conditions and a high (70%) chance of light showers on Saturday, with a max of 30C. On Sunday, it's expected to be cloudy with a high (80%) chance of showers and thunderstorms.

So it might pay to bring your umbrella to the headline act of the weekend: which is of course The Cat Empire, the big finale of the hugely successful Festival 2018 and Commonwealth Games celebrations down at the Esplanade on Sunday.

Apart from old school rockers like Jon Stevens and Daryl Braithwaite on the weekend, you can also catch Cairns FC in action at Barlow Park.

Whatever you do, enjoy your weekend in paradise!
