Incumbent Warren Entsch is pulling further ahead of Elida Faith in the federal election battle for Leichhardt, according to betting agencies.

Sportsbet is paying $1.36 for the Coalition winning in the electorate, compared with $2.75 for Labor.

Its Communications Manager Richard Hummerston said there’s been a rush on Warren Entsch bets in the past ten days.

“There was an article about ten days ago that said Labor was incredibly confident in the seat but since that article was released the absolute polar opposite has happened and about 85% of the cash has come on the Coalition,” he said.

“We’re just starting to see a few reports that Labor are losing their grip on regional Queensland.”

Clive Palmer’s United Australia Party is the best performing of the minor parties, paying $21, followed by the Greens at $31, Independent Chad Anderson $51 and One Nation at $61.

There’s not a lot of love for Fraser Anning’s Conservative National Party, which has huge odds of $101.

Ladbrokes is paying $1.40 for a Coalition victory and $2.80 for Labor, while Unibet is calling a much tighter competition, putting the Coalition’s odds at $1.80 and Labor’s $2.

In the seat of Kennedy, it’s a race for second place, with incumbent Bob Katter considered a sure bet.

Sportsbet’s paying just $1.07 if the KAP retains the seat, while the Coalition’s odds are set at $6 and the ALP’s $10.

“Bob Katter’s definitely not going to lose it,” Mr Hummerston said.

“I can tell you now that’s the easiest 7 per cent return on investment you’ll ever make, there is no chance Katter is going anywhere.”

Ladbrokes and Unibet are paying $1.05 and $1.07 respectively for a KAP win.
