      Working collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, the primary function of this role is to provide quality professional casework services to young people, with the desire of reducing re-offending. Key responsibilities of the role include:

      • Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, to achieve positive outcomes for victims, young offenders, their families and the community;
      • Monitoring young offenders’ compliance with court orders and intervening when needed to address issues that place them at risk of re-offending;
      • Preparing and presenting verbal and written reports to various stakeholders and Courts;
      • Conducting Court interviews in addition to preparing quality reports, affidavits and other appropriate documentation to achieve best practice outcomes for young people.

      The Skills You Bring

      • You must have a relevant tertiary degree in social work, behavioural science, social science or criminology;
      • You have strong interpersonal skills so that you can build positive relationships and rapport with a range of people including clients, team members, internal and external stakeholders;
      • Having worked in similar role or a related field you have an exceptional understanding of youth justice activities and are proactive in utilising culturally appropriate, collaborative and evidence based assessment and intervention skills, processes and programs;
      • Great communication is the key for you and you have demonstrated professional oral and written communication skills;
      • You have a proven capacity to prepare and present information to the Court, liaising with stakeholders and preparing quality pre-sentence reports;
      • You have cultural knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and are responsive and communicate sensitively and effectively;
      • You have a passion for community and a willingness to assist individuals and groups to achieve a better life;
      • You are tech savvy and you have proven success undertaking a range of information management tasks, including maintenance of case records and performance reports;
      • You must be able to nominate an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person who is recognised in the community to provide a referee to support your ability;
      • You must hold a current “C” Class drivers licence.

      • You have tertiary qualifications such as Certificate III in Aged Care, Primary Health Care or Management

      • Cook Qualifications are highly desirable
