      Your new employer maintains a long standing presence within the Marine Engineering and Maintenance community of Cairns. They possess large scale facilities that enable them to maintain and repair a diverse range of marine vessels. They provide a complete project management services, surveys and assistance in all trades including boiler making (steel, stainless steel, aluminium), painting and blasting, mechanical, hydraulics, electrical, interior refurbishment and repairs.

      Your Exciting, New Role

      In this role, you will ensure due diligence in relation to the organisation’s WHS responsibilities.

      The Skills You Bring

      You will require previous experience in:

      • On the ground walk arounds/inspections and reporting;
      • Conducting safety inductions and maintain Safety Matrix’s;
      • Acquiring and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of workplace health and safety matters;
      • Understanding the operations being carried out by staff, and the hazards and risks associated with the operations;
      • Ensuring staff utilise appropriate resources and processes to eliminate or minimise health and safety risks arising from work being done;
      • Ensuring staff have appropriate processes in place to receive and respond promptly to information regarding incidents, hazards and risks;
      • Ensuring employees utilise processes for complying with duties or obligations under the Act;
      • Verifying the provision and use of these resources and processes.

      In addition to a trade background, you will also require a Certificate IV (or higher) in Workplace Health and Safety and a current White Card.

      This is a Temp role for an immediate start which will continue through to 30th June 2018 with the possibility of being extended.

      This role will require you to:

      • Produce high quality tender and quotation documentation for building projects, ensuring compliance with industry best practise, departmental standards and client requirements;
      • Utilise computer packages to ensure consistency in the provision of client quotations;
      • Assess and prepare accurate and timely estimates, quotations and project trade packages, including material lists and construction programs;
      • To assist in the development and research of estimating, costing, contract administration and contract cost management practises;
      • Work effectively with clients, suppliers and subcontractors to maximise service delivery, achieve business costs savings and satisfy client requirements;
      • Have an ability to read and interpret building and site plans/engineering drawings for accurate take-off’s.

      The Skills You Bring

      • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role in the building industry preparing quantity take-off’s and bills of materials;
      • Experience using Estimating software would be highly regarded;
      • Ability to work in a fast paced environment;
      • You will need to be well organised, diligent with a large focus on attention to detail.

      In this Temp role, you will be responsible for providing industry expertise in the performance of property inspections on building assets across a diverse property portfolio.

      You will also play an integral role in the development and implementation of maintenance and upgrade asset management policies and strategies and programs that maintain and enhance the performance, value and utilisation of assets.

      The Skills You Bring

      To be successful in this role, you will requires previous experience in:

      • Fulfilling a Carpentry (or similar) trade;
      • Conduct site inspections on new and existing assets;
      • providing advice on specific community needs and the workforce capacity of local indigenous councils;
      • Conduct audits and reviews on property condition data and condition appraisals;
      • Maintain and update information systems with the ability to use a variety of software and data applications;
      • Assist and provide ongoing support to service areas and agencies in regards to overall property asset management functions;

      You will also require the ability to travel to remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island communities.
