Small business forum to help deliver a future-leading Cairns economy

The big kahuna of small business conferences is back on March 17th.

After the sell-out success of the 2016 event, the Small Biz Big Future event returns with a new line-up of leading business owners and small business experts for one action-packed day of practical advice, lessons and strategies.

The event at the Pacific Hotel is the collective brainchild of 12 local business owners who wanted to share their knowledge and experience with others interested in growing and securing their small business into the future.

Presenters on the day include Paul Furse, Sam Harrop, Emma Miller, Dr Tyson E Franklin, Nicky Jurd, Donna Patane, Andrea Jackson, Andrea Tunjic, Deb Johnstone, Leisel Pisani, Vanessa Allen and event organiser Kaj Haffenden.

Practical, actionable advice

Mr Haffenden, the co-founder of local web development company Precedence, said each presenter will share three practical strategies that attendees can take away and implement in their business immediately.

"As small business owners, we are nimble, hands-on and specialised," he told TropicNow.

"And today, we have an abundance of knowledge, technology and capability that our predecessors only dreamt of.

"What this means is we have a unique opportunity to build not just future-proofed but future-leading businesses, and to do that, we need new skills, calculated changes and a bold path forward.

"This event will help you with specific, practical ideas to achieve just that."

A unique event

Mr Haffenden said the event was unique to Cairns for a range of reasons.

"Each presentation has been prepared for this event, for today’s business climate, and for small business owners so the topics are 100% relevant to what small businesses need today," he said.

"Each presenter is a Cairns-based business owner or industry expert so they know precisely what information the audience needs to succeed.

"And their presentations have all been designed to deliver three key takeaways, so instead of a talk-fest, the presenters are providing real, practical strategies."

With 2017 tipped to be a year of solid economic growth for Cairns, now might just be the right time to invest in the future of your business by attending the Small Biz Big Future event.
