Design of new Esplanade hotel a game-changer for Cairns skyline

Get ready Cairns: the construction action at Crystalbrook Collection's CBD hotel projects is about to start seriously ramping up.

The Cairns firm leading the projects, PRIME Group, is encouraging local businesses, tradies and suppliers to make contact and lodge their interest in working on the projects, which will include three separate properties over coming years.

The call-out for contractors comes as PRIME releases stunning new images of a 12-storey tower to be built adjacent to the existing hotel building at the Tradewinds site.

That Esplanade project - one of three Crystalbrook projects worth a combined $370 million - is expected to be operational in mid-2018 and feature 311 hotel rooms.

PRIME director Andy Taylor said the company was committed to using as many local businesses as possible on the projects, which are worth a combined total of $370 million.

"Local contracts are already being awarded for the supply of products and services for these projects with expressions of Interest opening at the end of last year," Mr Taylor said.

"The scale and scope of these projects means we are actively encouraging anyone interested in getting involved to contact the PRIME office and let us know.

"PRIME is working very closely with the Cairns Chamber of Commerce and Advance Cairns to ensure that all businesses in the region are receiving up to date information on when certain stages of the projects are underway so local businesses can get access to the most up to date info on construction activity and how they can get involved.

"These are exciting times for the Far North with unprecedented construction activity and the first two new hotels being built in over 20 years. Our team at PRIME is very pleased to be playing our part in this."
