TNQ shows how to shine with fine days ahead

The Cairns Show is on and a long weekend is looming. And the best news of all? We can expect to enjoy the postcard perfect blue skies and sunshine that TNQ is famous for at this time of year.

TropicNow caught up with duty forecaster Bill O’Connor from the Australian Bureau of Meteorology for a quick look at the skies for the Cairns Show and long weekend weather forecast.

While the weather gods display a good sense of humour and perfect timing to literally rain on TNQ’s parade during major events, including previous shows, long weekends and most recently the June-July school holidays, there is nothing but clear skies overhead for the next few days.

“The weather will be lovely, we have hit it right this year to keep it fine and sunny for the show,” Mr O’Connor said.

“The fine weather will continue right through until the weekend.”

TNQ locals can expect mild minimum temperatures of about 17-18C and the maximum should hit the 27-28C mark with winds about 10-15 knots out on the water.

A change is expected late on Sunday or early Monday morning which could bring cloudy conditions and possible coastal showers to TNQ into next week.

The gates for the 2017 Cairns Show opened this morning with the Cairns Show Association expecting bumper crowds of more than 75,000 people to flow through to enjoy three action packed days of sideshow alley thrills and spills and ringside events. The Cairns Show public holiday is on Friday.
