Meet Eat Repeat adds extra taste and fun to Amateurs Carnival

Food, fashion and horse-racing are all set to 'meet' at this year's Cairns Amateurs Carnival.

TropicNow's popular foodie festival Meet Eat Repeat will set up at Cannon Park for Saturday's gala race day on September 2.

The fourth instalment of Meet Eat Repeat will be found near the entrance to Cannon Park, tempting racegoers with gourmet bites from up to 15 of the city's top restaurants, cafes and food vendors.

It will be open to all Amateurs attendees, with live entertainment and prime viewing of Fashions on the Field adding to the party atmosphere.

A selection of beverages will also be available with a pop-up bar by Gin Social, the city's newest small bar opening at Hilton Cairns in August.

TropicNow's Leah King said Meet Eat Repeat’s food fair would offer an enticing selection of dishes from leading restaurants, cafes and food vans in Cairns.

“The social event of the year in Cairns just got tastier,” Ms King said.

“We’re thrilled to be bringing the food and good vibes of Meet Eat Repeat trackside at the Cairns Amateurs, giving racegoers a sensational range of food options and a cocktail bar by Gin Social.

“Punters will be able to eat and listen to some live acoustic tunes or grab a cocktail and watch the excitement of Fashions On The Field unfold.”

A NEW DIMENSION FOR SOCIAL EVENT

Cairns Amateurs Carnival chief executive officer Graham Thornton said the addition of Meet Eat Repeat to the Carnival program would bring a new dimension to the region’s pinnacle social event.

“In 2017, Cairns Amateurs has continued to evolve to become an event that is not just about horse racing or fashion, but is truly a representation of the Tropical North and its celebratory spirit,” Mr Thornton said.

“We are thrilled to host this next instalment of the Meet Eat Repeat series, which is a wonderfully inclusive event that is about getting people together to eat, drink, and be merry.

“I envisage our guests meeting and mingling at Meet Eat Repeat to relax, enjoy some great food and live music, and of course take in the colourful spectacle of Fashions on the Field, which this year will be held within the public arena for all to enjoy.”

Launched in November 2016, Meet Eat Repeat’s past events have featured food stalls by Ochre, NOA, Mama Coco, Harvest Mexican, Apex Milk Bar, Chef Wolfgang's smoked BBQ, Caffiend, Samosa Hub, So Hangry and more.

Now in its 59th year, Cairns Amateurs Carnival has set its sights on beating last year’s impressive attendance of 18,000 racegoers with a refreshed and glamorous blend of tropical fun, fashion and racing.

Cairns Amateurs Carnival is held between Thursday 31 August and Saturday 2 September 2017 at Cannon Park Race Course, with a number of key events also taking place on the city’s picturesque waterfront.
