Man busted putting along at more than twice legal alcohol limit

After a day on the fairways avoiding all the traps on the course, a local man turned out to be the ultimate hazard when he was charged with drink-driving after putting along in a golf buggy on Mill Street, at Babinda.

Babinda officers stopped the golf buggy about 6.30pm on August 18 and breath tested the driver, a 43-year-old man.

The man allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.126 per cent, more than two times over the legal limit.

He was charged with one count each of drink-driving, driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle and is due to front Cairns Magistrates Court today.

Police reminded drivers that the road rules, including those relating to drinking alcohol and driving, apply to all vehicles and random breath tests can be carried out anywhere at anytime.
