Cairns Festival heats up with triple j favourite Amy Shark performing live

One of Australia's hottest young musical talents Amy Shark will light up the Cairns Esplanade main stage tonight as the headline act for the first full day of Festival 2018.

Securing Shark for a headline gig is a major coup for Cairns. Her hit tune Adore scored the number two spot on last year's Hottest 100, and the Gold Coast-raised singer-songwriter also won Aria Awards for Best Pop Release and Breakthrough artist. Her music is gaining traction in the United States, with Shark playing several massive festivals this year.

Shark will be supported by local acts Twelve Ballet and In the Element from 6pm.

With the GC2018 Commonwealth Games in full swing, punters can also catch the sporting action will be shown live on the big screens at the Lagoon and on the Eastern Events Lawn.
