Urban Affairs writer & columnist
An urbanist at heart and urban planner by qualification, Hanslee Gee has an eye for urbanism in regional cities and towns. As a graduate from James Cook University's School of Planning in Cairns, Hanslee is all too familiar with the challenges that our regional towns and cities face.
All too often we lose our young men and women to the bright lights of big cities in the south. With conviction, Hanslee believes that good urbanism embedded in the culture and context of regional towns and cities can create identity, effuse desirability, stimulate the local economy and create jobs.
And, according to Hanslee, the best part is that good urbanism starts with small changes.
With over 20 years of life experience in several countries, different cultures and countless communities, Hanslee writes with an untainted insight seeking to explore and understand. Like so many who have come to Cairns from afar, Hanslee has fallen in love with Cairns and only wants her to be the best she can be.
