Legendary singer-songwriter rocks into Cairns on national solo tour

One of Australia's most popular musicians Bernard Fanning has just announced his national tour will swing into the Tanks in November.

He's responsible for some of the most memorable music ever made in Australia.

And for the first time in years Bernard Fanning is set to play a must-see gig in Cairns.

As part of the national tour for his upcoming solo album Civil Dusk, Fanning will perform a range of new tracks along with some classic Powderfinger tunes.

Now entering his tenth year and third album as a solo artist, Fanning's upcoming album is the first of a two-part series, with the next installment titled Brutal Dawn to be released early next year.

Writing on his blog, Fanning said he was incredibly excited to be back on the road after a long hiatus.

"So finally here we are ready to get back out on the road to play some tunes from the new album Civil Dusk," he wrote.

"We’ll be coming your way throughout October and November and playing songs from all across the years.

"We haven’t been properly on the road for nearly three years so we are chomping at the bit to play and see you all out there."

Over the past 25 years in both a solo capacity and of course as the frontman for legendary band Powderfinger, Fanning has written and performed some of the most memorable hits in modern Australia music, from My Happiness, These Days and My Kind of Scene to his hit debut album Tea and Sympathy.

Fanning will be supported on his tour by up and coming stars Dustin Tebbutt and Ainslie Wills.

Tickets for the 4 November gig at The Tanks go on sale on 5 August through Ticketlink.
