Community in mourning over sudden death of Abby

The community is in shock after a popular carer and nanny who touched the lives of hundreds of Cairns families passed away suddenly in her home on Monday night.

Abby Young was a beautiful, caring, spirited 30-year-old with a smile that could light up the darkest of days.

As a popular and experienced local nanny, she touched the lives of countless Cairns families.

She loved live music, travel and her pet dog Harper, and had grand plans for her future.

But a few nights ago, Abby’s world changed forever. Her family said she slipped in her bathroom and hit her head in the type of random event that could’ve happened to any of us.

When emergency services arrived, Abby had already passed away.

Abby was so full of life that her sudden death is impossible to comprehend for her family and friends.

Their hearts are in a million pieces.

Every parent who loved having Abby in their home where she cared so deeply for their children will also be in shock.

In a brief Facebook post on Tuesday, her brother Andrew wrote:

“We are devastated to have to tell you that we lost our dear Abby yesterday.

“Just a stupid accident at home slipping in the bathroom and she died of a head injury.

“We love you Abby with all our hearts and you will always be remembered.”

Details of Abby’s funeral are yet to be released. TropicNow will update this story when details are known.
