21-YEAR OLD MOTORBIKE RIDER IN FATAL CRASH
Cairns Police are investigating a fatal crash on a sand track near McGregor Road that occurred yesterday afternoon at Smithfield.
Initial information suggests that around 2pm on a sand track near McGregor Road two men were riding motorcycles when one of the men has fallen off injuring himself.
The 21-year-old Brinsmead man was transported to Cairns Base Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating. 

INVENTION TO SAVE THE REEF
A Cairns couple will appear on popular Channel 10 TV show Shark Tank tomorrow night in a bid to raise capital for their invention.
Called Catch 'n' Release, the device aims to reduce the impact of anchor retrieval out at sea. The device was developed by Peter and Margaret Powell and was recently awarded a $91,000 State Government grant.
The couple hopes to raise more funds when they pitch Catch 'n' Release to the panel of Shark Tank investors. 

KING AND QUEEN OF THE KNOB
Mathew Rohde and Lorri Williams have been crowned the King and Queen of Yorkey's Knob at a community celebration on Saturday.
Mr Rohde is a local police officer, while Mrs Williams has been a long-term volunteer at the Yorkeys Knob Residents Association.
Saturday's event drew about 4000 people to the Yorkey's foreshore, the 13th time the festival has been held.

BIG WINNERS AT CAIRNS CLASSIC
It's being hailed as the most successful Cairns Classic yet, with Paradise Palms congratulating the winners in a range of categories.
Damien Jordan and Paul Hayden were the joint winners of the Ladbrokes PGA Pro-Am Series Sunshine Swing Cairns Classic, Breanna Gill won The Australian Ladies Professional Golf (Official) Tour and Tim Elliott romped home to secure the Ladbrokes PGA Legends Tour Cairns Classic title.
