JUTE Theatre Company celebrates its 25th anniversary this month and is looking forward to a very bright future.
Marking the anniversary, JUTE announced the appointment of Milly Darby as the business development manager with a focus on playing a key role in the not-for-profit group's future success and sustainability.
The newly created position will enhance the company's revenue streams and income, with Milly saying she was excited to join the team and embark on a new career in the arts sector.
Ms Darby has extensive experience as an advertising production manager.
“My role is to maintain and nurture JUTE’s existing portfolio of major donors and corporate partners while developing new and mutually beneficial partnerships that will underpin the company’s theatre productions, national and international touring programs, JUTE Theatre School, online playwright workshops and more," she said.
“In essence, my role will provide the drive, focus and innovation required to increase JUTE’s financial success to enable an even greater impact in the community."
JUTE’s chief executive and artistic director Suellen Maunder said for the past 25 years JUTE has worked hard to enrich its local community with culture by telling people’s stories and facilitating engagement with the arts.
“Our work in remote Indigenous communities, with young people and with artists of differing abilities is all part of JUTE’s evolution and brand identity," she said.
“JUTE’s commitment to the future and sustainability for the next quarter of a century underpins the appointment of Milly."
While it has been important to reflect on JUTE’s past successes, Ms Maunder said he focus was on the future and JUTE's role in the city's growth as a vibrant, cultural hub.
“The arts are super-hot right now and in line with Cairns Regional Council’s investment into the renewed cultural vibrancy of our city, JUTE is keen to play a leading role in enhancing its liveability that will in turn, create further investment and secure long-term growth in our region,” she said.
