Fine weather weekend for Cairns but rain on its way

Tropical North Queensland will be mostly sunny this weekend but the fine weather party is about to be crashed.

Saturday and Sunday will stay nice and warm with temperatures of around 30C and just a chance of rain on Sunday for Cairns.

But expect a “more active weather week” from Monday. Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster Harry Clark said there’s rain for inland areas which will reach the coast on Tuesday.

“From Tuesday to Sunday next week expect showers along the coast,” Mr Clark told TropicNow.

Humidity will stay at around 64 per cent this weekend but is forecast to shoot up to 75 per cent by Tuesday.

The fine weekend is one of the last chances to take a dip at one of our beaches before the stinger nets go up.

Surf Life Saving North Queensland regional manager Rob Davidson said the nets will installed on Cairns beaches from Machans to Ellis Beach on October 30 and Port Douglas October 31. The nets are installed every summer from November to May.
