A teenage boy is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Children’s Court, alleged to have sexually assaulted four women over separate incidents.

Police will allege the 17-year-old has, on a several occasions, rode up behind women on his bicycle and struck their buttocks, before riding off.

“Investigations were commenced after a 34-year-old Townsville woman reported she was approached by a boy on a bicycle whilst walking on Des Chalmers Drive at Woree on the evening of June 18,” a police spokesperson said.

“The boy allegedly used his hand to strike the woman on the buttocks before quickly riding away.”

It’s also alleged the teenager committed similar offences against three other women.

On 1 July, a 32-year-old Cairns woman was struck on Collins Avenue, Edge Hill, around 1pm.

A 25-year-old Mount Sheridan woman was then assaulted on Forest Gardens Boulevard at around 12.30pm on 11 August.

The following week, a 24-year-old Woree woman was assaulted on Des Chalmers Drive at around 5pm on 17 August.

On Monday afternoon, police arrested and charged the boy with four counts of sexual assault.
