JUTE Theatre Company launched its latest production with a sold-out show and plenty of smiles, champagne and antipasto on Friday.

Showing until 23 October, La Bella Figura is a deeply moving but comedic musical drama exploring Italian migration to Australia, and more specifically to Far North Queensland.

Featuring an all-local cast and crew, and stories to resonate with thousands in Cairns of Italian heritage, it's no surprise to see Bulmba-ja packed with theatre-goers.
