Police searcing for missing woman Lipping Zhou, 71, in Port Douglas


UPDATE 1.11PM 12/08: A 71-year-old woman missing in Port Douglas was found safe and well on August 12.

Lipping Zhou's bag was found in mangroves near the Dickson Inlet area about 9.30am and State Emergency Services personal were able to follow footprints to her location.

She was helped out of the swamp area and taken back to the Port Douglas Fire and Rescue Station for treatment before being taken to Mossman Hospital for further treatment for minor injuries and dehydration.

Police would like to thank volunteers from the State Emergency Service, Fire and Rescue staff as well as members of the public and the media for their assistance.

PREVIOUSLY: The search for a missing woman, aged 71, resumed at first light this morning (11 August) with 30 State Emergency Service volunteers and two vehicles involved.

Lipping Zhou has not been seen since about 10pm on August 9 after leaving her home on Murphy Street at Port Douglas.

Police have received information from the public that Ms Zhou was seen walking on her own in the area.

Extensive land, water and aerial searches were conducted yesterday.

PREVIOUSLY: Emergency services, including a helicopter and ground personnel are searching the Port Douglas area for a missing woman, aged 71.

Police are asking for the public's help to find Lipping Zhou who was last seen yesterday about 10pm at a home on Murphy St.

She has not been seen or contacted anyone since.


Concerns are held for her welfare as she has a medical condition.

She is described as being Asian in appearance, of slim build, around 140cm tall with short black hair.

It is believed she is wearing dark pants, a dark top and carrying a large multi-coloured handbag.<strike></strike>
