Thursday and Friday will bring chilly weather to the Tropical North, brought on by a new high-pressure system moving into the Great Australian Bight. Cairns is tipped to experience minimums of 16C later this week, while spots like Atherton will drop to as low as 8C.
KURANDA COPS CALL FOR DASH CAM FOOTAGE
Kuranda Police are seeking witnesses and any dashcam footage to a hit and run traffic crash that occurred on the Kuranda Range on Monday June 5.
The three vehicle crash occurred around 5.45pm on a bend below the lookout and involved a white Toyota HiLux Utility and possibly a green Toyota Landcruiser utility.
The Toyota Landcruiser utility is described as being army green with a bullbar and having a dog crate on the back.
No-one was injured as a result of the crash however the driver of the Toyota Landcruiser allegedly failed to stop or remain at the scene of the incident and was last seen driving west up the Kuranda Range towards Kuranda.

A deadlock over driver demands for higher pay have led to a 48-hour strike that will disrupt Sunbus services over the next 48 hours.
The Transport Workers Union says Sunbus operator TransLink had not "given any ground" in the fight for higher pay, while a TransLink spokesman says the request for a 6.1% rise was “totally unrealistic”.

ORIGIN LEGENDS COULD RETURN
Two of Queensland's greatest could be back on the paddock for Game 2 of State of Origin. Maroons coach Kevin Walters has hinted that both Billy Slater and Johnanthan Thurston would be welcomed back into the squad in a bid to keep the series alive after NSW's crushing win in Game 1.
Slater was overlooked for Game 1 in favour of Darius Boyd, while Thurston's injury dramas are expected to ease in time for Game 2 on June 21.
