Cairns has recorded its fourth consecutive day of no new COVID-19 cases.

The news comes as residents return to work and school today, following the region's snap three-day lockdown.

There have been 3341 tests in Cairns in the past 24 hours.

11 new cases have been recorded in Queensland, 10 of which are linked to the Indooroopilly cluster. They are all in home quarantine.

One overseas-acquired case was detected in hotel quarantine.

“If we have to implement harder measures then we will.”

Over 15,000 Queenslanders remain in home quarantine, including more than 600 in the Cairns region.

Of today's new positive cases in the state's south-east, one tested positive on day seven of quarantine and the others returned positive results on day 10 of their 14-day isolation period.

Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young reiterated the importance of close contacts remaining in home quarantine.

“People do need to remain in quarantine for the full incubation period," Dr Young said.

Health authorities are urging Cairns residents to follow the COVID-19 restrictions, including mandatory mask wearing, until 22 August.

Close and casual contacts of the two positive cases must also get tested and follow the relevant health directives.

More than 16,000 vaccines administered in the past 24 hours, while over 116,000 have registered for vaccines in the past three days.

Those aged 16 to 39 can now register their interest here to receive a jab through Queensland Health.

Anyone over 18 who wants the AstraZeneca vaccine can also get it through these local pharmacies.
