A man has been taken to hospital after falling while trying to escape from hotel quarantine in Cairns.

Police say the Victorian entered the Pacific Hotel this morning, where he then tried to climb out of his room.

“It was a 29 year-old Victorian man who was placed in hotel quarantine,” a police spokesman said.

“At 11.15 this morning the man attempted to leave the room by climbing onto the outside of the building.

“He fell and suffered minor injuries to his legs.”
