From Sport to creative industries to science, it's all on show at CQUni's Open Day

CQUni burst on to the Cairns education scene a few years ago and has gone from strength to strength ever since. You can find out why at it's big Open Day this Saturday.

They may be the relatively new kid on the tertiary education block in Cairns, but tomorrow's CQUni Open Day promises to show how far the Cairns campus has come in such a short period.

Now ranked as one of the world's top 150 universities under 50 years old, CQ Uni has transformed the Green Square building on the corner of Abbott and Shields St over the past 12 months or so.

Tomorrow's free event will showcase the uni's 300+ study options from short courses, certificates and diplomas to undergraduate, postgraduate and research higher degrees.

The Open Day will feature acting and music workshops to demonstrate its new Bachelor of Creative Arts, basketball shoot-offs with the CQUni Cairns Taipans, and emergency role-play scenarios by Paramedic Science students.

You can also check out the uni's new 3D printer and have some fun in the photo booth. Guided information tours of the campus will also be available.

Associate Vice-Chancellor (Cairns and Far North Region) Jodie Duignan-George said the uni focused on four key areas to attract and support students.

"We're proud of our flexible learning options, student support, teaching quality and inclusiveness," Ms Duignan-George said.

"CQUniversity now ranks in the top 3 per cent of universities worldwide as per the Times Higher Education World Rankings and is one of the world’s top 150 universities under 50 years old."
