Stinky flower blooms but only for a very limited time

The giant stinker is back - but you've only got a few hours to left to experience it.

Spud the giant Titan Arum flower surprised staff at Cairns Botanic Gardens with a sudden opening yesterday morning at a height of 2.4 metres.

With the bloom period usually only lasting 24 hours, you've only got a few hours to check it out.

The photo above was taken at 10am this morning (Monday 29 January).

"This photo shows that Spud is starting to wilt so today will most likely be your only chance to see Spud in all its glory, and catch a whiff of its pungent smell!", the Botanic Gardens staff said.
