Police reveal new lines of inquiry in Toyah murder investigation

Police are narrowing their focus in the hunt for Toyah Cordingley's killer, saying they are getting closer to answers with each passing day.

Detective Inspector Sonia Smith today called on the public to assist with information about three specific areas of interest as part of the police investigation.

"The first area of inquiry is that we would like to speak to anybody who saw any suspicious activity or anything out of the ordinary in the Lake Placid or Caravonica area on the Sunday afternoon of October 21 between 4pm and 5.30pm.

"The second area is that we would like to speak to anybody who has any dashcam footage from any vehicle travelling north on the Captain Cook Highway between Clifton Beach and Wangetti Beach between 4.30pm and 5.30pm on Sunday October 21.

"The third area is that we are also keen to speak to any females who have been approached by any males either acting inappropriately, aggressively or making them feel uncomfortable in the last 12 months to two years in any beach area or secluded area between the northern beaches of Cairns and Cardwell."

Police and SES volunteers yesterday found "numerous items" in a search of bushland and the waters of Lake Placid as part of the investigation, but they declined to say what those items were.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
