Construction set to start on luxurious Palm Cove residential apartments

Palm Cove is full of luxurious tourist resorts but now a luxurious beachfront development will tap into the high-end permanent residential market.

Six apartments make up the three storey Shara apartment building on the corner of Williams Esplanade and Harpa Street, in the heart of Palm Cove.

Nicholas Slatyer from Belle Property says construction will begin in the middle of the year.

“Over the years Palm Cove has become more and more popular for owner occupiers downsizing.

“Many of the existing apartments are designed for short term, holiday stays and don’t suit as a permanent residence," he said.

"The developers of Shara saw an opportunity to create spacious three bedroom permanent residences in one of Australia’s most iconic beachfront settings."

Each residence has been carefully designed for relaxed contemporary beachfront living.

There are natural finishes, huge indoor-outdoor living areas, basement car parks and storage and a lift to all levels.

Then there's the rooftop pool with 360 degree views to the Coral Sea and the hinterland.

The apartments were crafted by David Quigley, Principal of Circa 2000 Architecture, who has been designing for the tropics at his Cairns-based practice for more than 20 years.

“We thought about each apartment like a beach house in the sky - relaxed beachfront living, a natural materials palette and plenty of louvres for light and breeze,” he said.

The developer, Bob Simkin, is also a long term resident of the Northern Beaches and has completed numerous projects in the area including Banyula at Clifton Beach and Munbilla at Buchan Point.

The Shara residences are being sold now, from $1.3 million.
