Have you seen this car? Police seek info after alleged attempted abduction at Kewarra Beach

Police have released a photograph of a car as they seek public assistance in their investigation into the alleged attempted abduction of a woman at Kewarra Beach a week ago.

The incident occurred less than 20 kilometres from where 24 year-old Toyah Cordingley was murdered in October.

Police say a 19 year-old woman was walking on the eastern side of the Captain Cook Highway near the Kewarra Beach roundabout at around 6pm, Wednesday 23rd January, when a south-bound small SUV pulled over next to her.

She told police the male driver, aged in his 50s or 60s, summoned her to the car and then attempted to pull her into the vehicle.

She managed to break free.

The man drove off in a northerly direction along the grass verge, before turning east along a footpath into Poolwood Road.

Senior Constable Russell Parker said the car is similar to a 1989-199 Suzuki Vitara, with two doors.

“We are hopeful that someone will see this vehicle and may just know where it belongs,” he said.

“Incidents like this we do take very seriously.”

The driver is described as Caucasion with greying brown hair and a slim build.
