Wolf Lane Distillery’s coffee liqueur takes out global award

They’ve done it again.

On the back of scoring ‘the world’s best gin’ earlier this year, Wolf Lane Distillery has reeled in another global award in the New York International Spirits Competition.

The local spirit specialists took home the Australian Liqueur Distillery of the Year for their ‘The Barista’ coffee liqueur on Friday.

The winning brew is made with Jacques single origin coffee extract from the Tablelands and Daintree vanilla-infused vodka.

Wolf Lane Distillery co-owner Darren Barber believes these local products are what make the coffee liqueur world-class.

“Being able to use these fresh ingredients is pretty amazing … most other countries just don’t have access to the produce we have in Far North Queensland,” he said.

The award follows Wolf Lane’s claim to the best gin on Earth, after the small-batch distillery won the Navy Strength Gin category, among other prizes, in the 2020 Gin Guide Awards in April.

The Gin Guide Awards in London is the largest dedicated gin competition in the world, annually receiving hundreds of entries from over 30 countries.

Wolf Lane Distillery has also recently collected a back-to-back Gold Medal for their Tropical Gin in the Australian Gin Awards.

It’s an incredible set of achievements for a business launched just last year.

After such huge global and national recognition, Darren says he’s looking to expand into international markets.

The boutique distillery has recently partnered with Swift + Moore Beverages to send its spirits across Victoria, NSW, WA and Tasmania.

Wolf Lane liqueurs are already available in all Dan Murphy’s stores in Queensland.

Darren also revealed the business is joining Nu Nu Restaurant Head Chef Nick Holloway to create a Christmas pudding-inspired gin in the lead-up to the festive season.
