LNP propose youth curfew trial in Cairns

TROPIC NOW BREAKING:
A youth curfew will be introduced to Cairns if the LNP is elected to government on October 31.
The LNP plan to trial an 8pm curfew for youth aged 14 and under and a 10pm curfew for youth aged 15 to 17.
Police will remove those found breaking the curfew and their parents will be fined $250.
Opposition Leader Deb Frecklington told reporters this morning "youth crime is out of control" in Cairns.
"Labor introduced soft "catch and release" laws and scrapped breach of bail as an offence for juveniles," she said.
"The LNP will fix these soft laws and recruit more police.
"This will be a common sense approach."
The party also plan to trial the curfew in Townsville.
It would need to pass through parliament to give police the ability to enforce the rules.
