Modern European share plates paired with contemporary cocktails is the name of the game for Holloways Beach’s newest venue.

Code Cairns, a sister restaurant and bar of the popular Two Blocks Café, is opening today.

Located side by side on Oleander Street, the two venues will offer the seaside suburb all-day dining from Thursday to Monday.

Co-owner Daniel Williams – who’s opening the bar with business partners Althea Moos, and Jason and Dani Rahman – said Code is all about creative food and local drinks in an intimate, trendy space.

“Code continues with our Two Blocks concept of simple, fresh food done well with excellent service,” he told Tropic Now.

“It's a Mediterranean-inspired space dishing up creative and modern European food.”

Featuring a range of European flavours with a dash of Japanese influence, the menu includes butter poached bugs with thermidor, citrus and green onion on brioche, as well as smoked lamb ribs with mountain pepper and lime.

Vegetarian and vegan options are highlighted too, next to vibrant seafood dishes and a couple of modern desserts.

“Code's intimate speak easy style bar will also offer natural and organic wines, contemporary cocktails, premium spirits and rotating beers on tap,” Daniel said.

“We’re featuring gins from Wolf Lane and Distil on the Hill, and local tap beer from Macalisters.”

Located on 117 Oleander Street, Code Cairns seats 30 inside and 20 outside.

Bookings are open from this evening, before the bar operates its regular hours from 4pm till late on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, and 2pm till late on weekends.
