A man has been charged following the death of a five year-old boy in Yarrabah, east of Cairns.
The child was taken to the Yarrabah Hospital with life-threatening injuries a week ago and was flown to Townsville Hospital in a critical condition.
He died yesterday.

After being alerted to the matter, police began investigating the circumstances of the death and have since charged a 24 year-old man known to the boy.
The man's facing one count each of murder, grievous bodily harm and torture and two counts each of assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed and assault occasioning bodily harm.
He has been remanded in custody.
Police say their inquiries are ongoing.
