It comes around faster and faster as the years go on, but there's no doubt many are hoping for a bigger and better 2023.
So to bring in the new year we've compiled a list of what's going on around Cairns and Port Dougy.
Whether you're up for all-inclusive dinners, day-long parties, or evening soirees, there's plenty to do to bring in the early mid-twenties.

Salt House
Salt House are giving you a couple options to make the most of the end. Get amongst the Boho Picnic Event with food stalls and pop up cocktail bars on the lawn, or enjoy a 4 course tasting menu.
Flamingos Tiki Bar
Taking a more casual approach, Flamingos is getting you lei'd this new year's eve. Beginning from 4pm, there's no cover charge but you must be quick to ensure a seat. Complimentary lei on arrival.
The Fox Small Bar
The Fox is hosting a cocktail party to ring in the new year. They are offering a 3.5 hour drinks package, charcuterie boards, and of course a celebratory glass of champas at midnight.
Iron Bar, Port Douglas
Hosting a special NYE menu, Iron Bar is putting on a fancy affair including oysters, eye fillets, and good ol' pavlovas - check out their full menu. You'll also likely be able to catch both fireworks displays from there.
Nu Nu
A go-to for many big events, Nu Nu is hosting a 3 course menu with all trimmings. Known to throw a party like no other, there's no doubt you'll be in for a treat. Plus you can see the fireworks from there at 8pm.
Pullman Port Douglas
Pullman PD is hosting a family friendly dinner with a 5 course degustation and 3 hour bevy package. Although optional, a white dress code is encouraged for this NYE party - be rude not to hey.
CC's Bar and Grill
A good start to evening, CC's is hosting a 4 course menu with a 3 hour drinks package. Beginning at 7.30pm it's a great opportunity to get dressed up and fuel up before things really kick off.
Rocco
You can't beat the rooftop view, and we have no doubt the fireworks will only amplify it. Offering a 4 hour drinks package, a selection of mouth-watering canapés, live music, this party is the prime opportunity to get all glammed up.
The Benson Hotel
The Benson is hosting a Masquerade Party to mark the end of 2022. The evening will boast a 6-piece jazz band and food and drink pop up stalls, and you'll be able to catch the fireworks displays from there.
Novotel Cairns
For a more laxed family vibe you can head to Novotel Cairns and enjoy a poolside BBQ. There'll be plenty of food on offer, lawn games for everyone, and a kids dance party.
Pullman Cairns
Pullman Cairns has a couple options to get amongst at Coco's. You'll be treated to a 3 hour drinks package and live entertainment, and depending on your budget you can pick between the seafood buffet or the antipasto offering.
Paper Crane
Offering views, vibes, and culinary delights, you can't beat the spot when it comes to watching the fireworks. You can choose from a seated dinner booking or go straight for the 4 hour drinks package with pass arounds.
Flynn's Italian
Combining some of our favourite things, Flynn's Italian is serving up a a tropical Italian affair. You can pick from an early sitting just in time to catch the early fireworks, or start late and not stop till it's 2023.
Wolf Lane
Take a journey down the rabbit hole, or should we say laneway, with Wolf Lane's Hoodwinked NYE event. The evening offers 3 hours of bottomless bevvies, a food station, and a DJ on the decks.
Hemingway’s Cairns
If you're not yet done bringing in the new year, Hemingway's at Cairns Wharf is hosting a Recovery Party. With live music, a DJ, 'dirty street' breakfast food, and bloody Marys all round. Free entry, and bookings not essential.
Hemingway's Port Douglas
Taking a different approach to NYE is Hemingway's PD with Party Like A Pirate. Kicking off from 11am, you're strongly encourage to dress up in your best swashbuckling pirate attire.
Miss Chief
A delicious start to the night, Miss Chief's house of dim sum will feed your soul. Their spread is sure to satisfy, and we already their cocktails go down a treat.
Jungle Fowl
Jungle Fowl, sister restaurant to Oaks Kitchen and Garden, is hosting a decadent evening with tropical Thai inspired delights. You'll be treated to unlimited canapés and a 3 hour drinks package.
Whiskey & Wine
Providing another awesome spot for watching the fireworks and everything going on below, Whiskey and Wine are hosting a Starry Nights soirée. Doing the most to make it a fabulous night, there'll be 3 pop up bars, an oyster station, cheeseboards doing the rounds, live music, and a 3.5 hour drinks package.
Mountain View Hotel
Looking for something a little different? The Mountain View Hotel is ringing in the new year with live music by The Brazilians, and some classic food and bevy specials.
Palooka
If you're looking for some Euro vibes this NYE, Palooka has you sorted. The 6 course evening will is set to be a romantic affair, with candlelight, oysters, caviar, and more. Plus, it's conveniently located mere meters from the Fox Bar, giving you an opportunity to double up on the fun.
NOA
NOA is hosting a 6 course Yum Cha banquet. Kicking it off early, bookings can be made from 4pm.
Guerrilla
No doubt a spicy evening is to be had at Guerrilla. Offering up a 4 course menu and big vibes, you'll be hard pressed to find a margarita not to your liking.
The Reef Hotel
Doing it all, Bar 36 is hosting Fun House - a carnival of colour, characters, and celebration, plus a balloon drop at midnight. There'll be live music and entertainment too.
Cairns Taipans
The Taipans are back home for their annual NYE game, this time against the Adelaide 36ers. Tip-off is at 7pm, leaving you with ample time to continue the fun and bring in the new year.
Cairns Fireworks
If you're hanging out for some fireworks like us, you've got a few options. For those not looking to hang out to midnight you have three spots to choose from, Cairns Esplanade, Palm Cove Jetty, and Edmonton's Walker Road Sports Precinct. The show's all begin at 8.30pm, making for a family friendly space.
For the big bang, you can hit the Cairns Esplanade at midnight!
Port Douglas Fireworks
For those further north in PD, you also have a couple opportunities to see the fireworks. Head to Dickson Inlet for a family friendly 8pm show with children's activities leading up to it, or catch the official midnight show.
