
Far North police are appealing for public assistance following a collision on the Captain Cook Highway overnight.
In the early hours of this morning, a single vehicle crash occurred between Wangetti and Ellis Beach, south of Rex Lookout.
A silver 2020 Hyundai Kona was travelling from Port Douglas to Cairns when it crashed into a wall, causing the highway to be closed for several hours in both directions.

Paramedics, including critical care, responded to two patients at 1.13am.
A 31-year-old Hope Island woman was taken to the Cairns Hospital in a critical but stable condition with facial, pelvic and leg injuries.
A 54-year-old Palm Cove man, who had received injuries to his arm, was also transported to hospital in a stable condition.
The road was cleared and reopened at 5.14am this morning.
Police are seeking assistance from anyone travelling in the area around 12.30 to 1.00am, who have witnessed the vehicle or captured dashcam footage.
