Tropic's guide to Valentine's Day events, dinners and things to do

Whether you’re shacked up this Valentine’s, or just single and ready to mingle with your friends (and all the great dinner deals on offer), Tropic’s gathered all the best events and things to do come Cupid’s favourite day.

We recommend booking these events asap – places are quickly filling!


Saturday 12 February

Our favourite plant place, Succuliving, is joining the love club with a creative workshop this Saturday. You’ll learn the craft of arranging succulents in a heart-shaped pot, all while enjoying wine and a grazing platter. 6 to 8pm. $85pp.

Sunday 13 February

Firstly, we’re calling all the single ladies! Rocco by Crystalbrook’s Be My Galentine event is offering a free cheese board to bookings of five or more people.

More fromage! Succuliving is offering two glasses of wine and a cheese board for two, all day this Sunday. $45 total.

Diners at Guerrilla will be greeted with a flute of champagne before sitting down to enjoy an eclectic four-course menu. Think scallop ceviche, wagyu rump cap, and of course, empanadas. $79pp, bookings essential.

Monday 14 February

Shangri-La’s The Backyard is hosting a very special Valentine’s dinner, with a five-course menu surrounding local seafood and a bottle of Veuve on the bill. You can book in any night until 16 February. $229pp.

Does your loved one fancy a little fine dining? Take them to NOA for a simple yet elegant six-course menu, featuring tare pork jowl, ponzu scallop and pickled shiitake (and that’s just on one dish). $80pp, bookings essential.

Up for some seaside dining by the marina lights? Ollie’s Italian is creating a decadent four-course meal, with coral trout or glazed beef check as the two main choices, followed by chocolate and cherry boccone cake. $85pp includes a glass of sparkling wine. Bookings essential.  

What’s more romantic than prosecco? Those dining at Vivaldi’s will receive a glass on arrival, before being treated to a four-course menu designed to share. $94pp.

If your special someone likes to indulge, look no further than Coco’s Kitchen + Bar in the Pullman Cairns. The night includes a seafood buffet and a chocolate fountain for dessert, along with live music and sparkling win on arrival. $110pp.

Rooftop views to celebrate Valentine’s? Yes please! Rocco by Crystalbrook is offering a $49 Mediterranean share-style set menu, fabulous cocktails, and of course, the best cityscape scenes in Cairns.

Charm your Valentine’s date with an evening at Pullman Palm Cove Sea Temple. The night includes a vibrant three-course dinner, live music by Connor Andrew and a glass of bubbles on arrival. $120pp

After something truly special? Spirit of Cairns is offering a Valentine’s Day Dinner Cruise, including a three-course meal, canapes and a drink on arrival, all beside twinkling lights on the water. $109pp

For something a little left of field this Valentine’s, the Cairns Taipans are taking on the New Zealand Breakers in the Snake Pit. 6.30pm start – the perfect follow-on from some evening drinks!
