Our morning drive is in for a shake-up with one of Cairns’ most popular radio hosts set to pass on the breakfast baton.

Triple M Cairns’ Elliott Lovejoy will sign off in early March, handing over the mic to well-known stuntwoman and marriage celebrant Tammy Barker.

Experienced radio presenter Jason Bodge also joins Ms Barker in the breakfast program.

SCA Cairns General Manager, Richard King said the new breakfast show would continue the station’s history of bringing local stories, sports, music and everything Cairns to the breakfast table.

“We will continue to hear him on the new Rush Hour drive show,” he said.

“It’s exciting to welcome Tammy Barker. She’s a proud Cairns local, has her finger on the pulse of everything happening in town and she has some wild stories to tell!

“As a professional stuntwoman for 12 years, she was set on fire, dragged by horses, flung from 50 metre buildings, and was the ‘Gabrielle’ stunt double on Xena: Warrior Princess.

“She’s also a marriage celebrant. This is a pretty good warm up for brekkie radio!

“Bodge is overflowing with stories and has told me it is impossible for him to be embarrassed – something that will be tested on the show!

“He can’t wait to dive into the Cairns community and become part of our listeners’ mornings.

Elliott Lovejoy will remain based in Cairns, presenting The Rush Hour from 4 to 6pm on weekdays.

“Chances are SCA called the wrong Elliott about this gig but I'm not going to call them on the mistake, it's an unbelievable opportunity across a wonderful part of Australia,” he said.

“After 10 years in breakfast, I'm looking forward to turning off the alarms and driving regional Queensland home.

“AB has an unmatched work ethic and a desire to create, create, create, and I'm also hoping she allows me to test drive her Tesla at some point.”

The changeover takes place on 7 March.
