
Police have charged a man with murder following a horrific discovery at Innisfail’s Fitzgerald Esplanade on Saturday.
At 4.23am yesterday, a member of the public found a significantly injured 66-year-old man in the Esplanade's parklands.
The Innisfail man died shortly after emergency services were called.

A 36-year-old man was located at an Innisfail address and taken into custody later that day.
Police charged the man with one count of murder overnight.
“It will be alleged at 3.48am two men have driven together to Fitzgerald Park at Innisfail, they have exited the vehicle and sat under a tree in the park,” a police spokesperson said.

“That man has then assisted the other man back to the car before leaving the area on foot.”
Police believe the incident is not a random attack, although the two men’s connection to each other is still under investigation.
The 36-year-old man is due to appear in the Innisfail Magistrates Court tomorrow.
