A convicted killer wanted for more than a decade on a charge of conspiracy to murder has been found hiding out in the Far North Queensland town of Ravenshoe.

It’s alleged 64-year-old Graham Gene Potter failed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates court in 2010.

Police allege he was hired to kill a man at the wedding of the son of Melbourne underworld figure Mick Gatto in 2008.

He was also facing charges over a $440 million 4.4-tonne ecstasy and cocaine haul.

Previously, Potter had served 15 years in jail for the 1981 murder of 19-year-old woman, Kim Barry, who was found decapitated near Wollongong in New South Wales.

Multiple law enforcement bodies throughout Australia have been attempting to locate him for the past 12 years and in 2011, a $100,000 reward was offered for information leading to his capture.

He’s accused of evading police in Tully in 2010 when he ran from officers who had attempted to intercept him.

In 2019, Victoria Police released photos taken at his Tully campsite, which revealed knives and cable ties, and a to-do list, including getting a fat suit.

This morning, they acted on a tip-off and entered an Ascham Street residence where Potter was located and taken into custody.

Detectives from Victoria will now travel to the Far North to seek his extradition.

The 64-year-old will appear before Mareeba Magistrates Court tomorrow.
