White water rafting, river drift snorkelling, reef trips and cultural tours are included in a North Queensland tourism voucher program which opens to local residents today.

North Queenslanders from Mackay to Cape York and west to the Atherton Tablelands can apply for a $100 voucher by heading to the Tropical North Queensland Experience Dollars website.

Tourism Tropical North Queensland (TTNQ) has launched the program in partnership with Travello, a Queensland-based online tourism and activities platform.

TTNQ CEO Mark Olsen says people will need to be quick, with only 1,000 discounts on offer.

“Have you dined on a sunset cruise, dived with schools of fish, or tried stand-up paddle boarding in the rainforest?” he said.

“Treat the family to a close encounter at one of the region’s wildlife parks or take a guided tour through the world’s oldest rainforest.

“We are targeting locals and visitors within a day’s drive of Cairns to get out and explore Tropical North Queensland and join some of the extraordinary experiences that people will soon be travelling from around the world for.”

To be successful, you need to register and then be one of the first 1,000 people to make a booking using a unique voucher code provided to you.
