22-year-old Woree man Teavae Bryce Vaevae has appeared in court charged with the murder of his two-month-old baby son.
The little boy was taken to Cairns Hospital in a critical condition on 6 June last year.
He was then airlifted to Townsville University Hospital, where he was declared deceased.
A special police operation known as Tango Weimar was established to investigate the death, with Child Protection detectives, Brisbane’s Homicide Group and the Child Trauma Task Force all involved.

Police allege the baby was in the sole company of Vaevae at a Woree home.
The man faced Cairns Magistrates Court today after being charged on Saturday.
He was remanded in custody to reappear on 30 March.
