Following the success of her quirky ode to Far North Queensland, Avocado Latte, Cooktown-born singer Yazmindi has released another stellar single.
Bars Ain’t Closin’ is an alt-country catchy love song and the result of the 23-year-old's musical influences locally and abroad.

“Bars Ain’t Closin’ is a beautiful heartfelt Americana ballad I co-wrote with Texas singer songwriter and my music mentor Robyn Ludwick when I was 16,” Yazmindi said.
“This song is very dear to my heart as it got picked up in Nashville by Holly Williams (granddaughter of Hank Williams) and Wade Bowen, recorded as a duet on a compilation CD produced by Bruce Robinson.
“I flew over to the USA to perform it at South by Southwest (SXSW) for the very first time.
“An exciting eye opening experience of the music industry when I was just 16.”

The single was co-produced with Mark Myers in his Tablelands recording hub, Mountain Kauri Studio.
Mark joins Yazmindi in singing backing vocals on Bars Ain’t Closin’.
The former Middle East band member also recorded Yazmindi's Avocado Latte, released late last year.
Delivering evocative images of the place the singer will always call home, the single is interspersed with laugh-out-loud mockery of the people and places she’s come across on her travels.
The comedic lyrics serve as a foil to the emotion the artist was obviously feeling when she was stuck down south.
“It’s a love song for Far North Queensland which I wrote while working at a café in Melbourne,” she said.
“Raw and honest, a song straight from my heart, yet tongue-in-cheek teasers play with Melbourne's city stereotypes.”

The lyrics are unique to Yazmindi’s quirky style of storytelling and are set against a backdrop of gentle harmonies and undulating melodies.
“It was so special recording Avocado Latte back home in North Queensland, surrounded by people I grew up with and love,” she said.
“I had always dreamed of producing music with Mark from growing up listening to his band's music, The Middle East.”
