The Cairns Taipans have posted another on-the-road victory, beating the Brisbane Bullets 90-82.

It was a tight contest for much of the evening, but 14 unanswered points from Cairns in less than two minutes in the third quarter set up the eight point win.

Brisbane began well in the first two quarters, but the Taipans stayed in touch and took advantage of Brisbane turnovers.

Cairns went into the final quarter leading 65-57, but Brisbane got within one point with just under four minutes on the clock.

Keanu Pinder scored the next five points for the Snakes and DJ Hogg converted a three-point play to seal the win.

The Taipans frontcourt trio had a big night, with DJ Hogg (20), Keanu Pinder (25), and Sam Waardenburg (14) strong in attack.

Tahjere McCall made his return from injury with five points, four rebounds and three steals in 22 minutes before fouling out.

Taipans coach, Adam Forde, said it wasn’t their best performance, but it was a good win.

"It wasn’t the cleanest game for us offensively. It was just a grindy and gritty game.

“So it's nice to still get that win.

“The cool thing was I only used a timeout once to sort of bail us out of a bad situation just because it looked stagnant.

Taipans guard, Bul Kuol, said it was a gritty game.

“We didn’t shoot the ball particularly well from the three-point line, but we found a way to attack the paint.

“Keanu did a good job there at the end attacking downhill with 15 points in the fourth quarter.

“We had the confidence the whole time and our three ball wasn’t falling like usual, but we have confidence in our defence and in our offence."

The Taipans are at home to the NZ Breakers on Friday 25 November.

For the most part, the boys did a good job of weathering the storm. It was fun.
