The mandating of COVID-19 vaccination for workers in health care settings will be revoked in Queensland from tomorrow.
However, the changes don't apply to staff in the public health system or in aged and disability care facilities.
Health Minister Yvette D’Ath said those workers must continue to stay up to date with their vaccinations.
Individual employers in areas such as private general practice and allied health will be able to decide whether staff in their facilities will have to do the same.

“With 93 per cent of Queenslanders double vaccinated and the most recent peak having passed, now is the right time to transition responsibilities for managing the vaccination requirements of workers in private hospitals, primary care and private allied health to those employers," she said
“Whether vaccination is required for these individuals is now a matter for individual employers as part of normal workplace health and safety obligations.”

“The Queensland Health staff vaccination directive will also remain in place to ensure the safety of employees, patients, visitors and the wider community."
She said with the third wave of COVID-19 now passed, Queensland Health will no longer report daily case numbers during weekends.
From next week, there will only be reporting from Monday to Friday.
