Eurovision songstress Kate Miller-Heidke returns to Cairns for special performance

Fresh off her dazzling performance at the Eurovision Song contest, alternative pop music icon Kate Miller-Heidke has announced a new national tour including a show at the Cairns Performing Arts Centre.

The classically trained songstress will perform her Eurovision song Zero Gravity, along with along with new versions of her indie, alt-pop classics and music from 'Muriel’s Wedding: The Musical' which saw her win a Helpmann Award last year for Best Original Score.

"Cairns, I can’t wait to see you again!” the Brisbane-based artist said.

“I especially can’t wait to play in the brand new Performing Arts Centre and take full advantage of the new acoustics.”

The Cairns stop forms part of a national tour which also includes shows at the Sydney Opera House, in Melbourne, Canberra and QPAC for Brisbane Festival.

It's the latest high-profile tour in a career that includes multiple ARIA Awards nominations and appearances at iconic music institutions including Coachella and the New York Metropolitan Opera.

As well as performing brand new versions of The Last Day on Earth, Caught in the Crowd and O Vertigo!, there'll be a sneak preview of new songs.

Plus, she'll be joined on stage by vocalist Jess Hitchcock, cellist/pianist Isaac Hayward and long-time collaborator/guitarist Keir Nuttall.

“I’ll be bringing some genius musicians with me - the kind of artists with whom a certain kind of magic is always bound to happen - and I'm looking forward to showing you the new material I’ve been working on,” Kate said.

“This show is going to be really special."

Tickets to the Cairns performance go on sale to the public this Friday via Ticketlink.
