INSURING A BUNFIGHT
Debate is raging over the best way to lower insurance premiums in Northern Australia. Leichhardt MP Warren Entsch wants the Turnbull Government to help underwrite a new insurance mutual company owned by local policyholders.
But Cairns insurance campaigner Roger Ward told News Corp the best way to tackle high premiums is to reintroduce a State Government Insurance Office, a move neither side of Queensland politics will entertain.

CAIRNS GOES NUTS FOR DONUTS
It's going to be a busy day down at the DFO in Westcourt. Today's the day the orders for Krispy Kremes are available for pickup in a pop-up concept by the global donut king.
Organisers say a total of around 25000 donuts were ordered by locals. The madness starts from 3pm near the DFO customer information kiosk, near the Brown St/Bus Stop entrance.

AT YOUR SERVICE IN THE 'M' SUBURBS
The 3MPride Project is going from strength-to-strength with its mission to provide positive movement for the three ‘M’ suburbs of Cairns West – Manoora, Manunda and Mooroobool.
Today the community group is hosting a Public Services in the Park day, with a number of departments and agencies joining forces to help provide a range of services including Learner Licence applications, housing applications, maintenance requests, health checks, fine payments, employment support, TAFE enrolments, Justice of the Peace and much more will be available on the day.
It runs today from 8.30am to 2.30pm at the Mooroobool Hub near Shang Park.

AQUIS STILL ON THE CARDS
It may have had more twists and turns than a Formula 1 race track, but the Fung family insists its Aquis project is still on the cards for Cairns.
Treasurer Curtis Pitt says he is still keen to see it go ahead in some shape or form, but confirmed he hasn't heard from Justin and Tony Fung at all this year. He has defended his level of action and support for the project after media reports in 2015 suggested he was "fast-tracking" the development.
