CAIRNS PETROL PRICES REPORT RELEASED
11 cents. That's much how extra per litre the average cost of fuel is in Cairns compared to capital cities.
So says the latest report by the ACCC into local petrol prices following a length investigation. The report found the lack of "vigorous and effective" competitors was a key contributor to high petrol prices in TNQ.

DASH CAM SEARCH IN HORROR CRASH INVESTIGATION
Police are searching for a driver who may have captured dash cam footage of a Captain Cook Highway crash that killed two people on Sunday. Witnesses at the scene told investigators they had spoken to a driver shortly after the accident who he "probably" captured footage of the crash. Anyone with footage is urged to contact their nearest police station. 

SILK AIR CELEBRATES TWO YEARS OF DIRECT CAIRNS FLIGHTS
Cairns Airport has congratulated SilkAir on the second anniversary of its direct service between Singapore and Cairns. Airport CEO Norris Carter said SilkAir had built the direct service up to now operate four direct services each week year round, with five services per week set to operate during July and August this year to meet peak period demand.

HEAT IS ON FOR NPL
FNQ Heat has been granted a place in the 2018 National Premier League Queensland competition, promising to work closely with local junior footballers to provide pathways to the top.
Football Queensland announced the expanded NPL competition yesterday, with 14 teams set to compete in the statewide league.
