Alex de Waal set to lead national transport and tourism company
It's been a closely-guarded tourism industry secret for weeks, but with board approval locked in and contracts signed, TTNQ's Alex de Waal can finally talk publicly about his surprise move to Brisbane.
TropicNow can exclusively reveal Mr de Waal will be the CEO of major transport and travel giant Greyhound Australia, based at its Eagle Farm headquarters in Brisbane.
From July, Mr de Waal will oversee more than 600 staff and a fleet of some 300 coaches. Among other things, he will take a lead role in developing new growth opportunities for the 110-year old company.
"I'm really looking forward to working with the great, global brand that Greyhound is and working with the team to create even more one-of-a-kind experiences," Mr de Waal told TropicNow.
"Greyhound has excellent domestic and international distribution so I can't wait to get into the business and work with the team to innovate and develop incremental growth opportunities.
"One of the most exciting aspects of this new role is coming up with compelling new offerings that we can provide for travellers who visit Australia from all over the world."
TTNQ is currently searching for a CEO to fill Mr de Waal's shoes ahead of his departure on 31 May.
