Friday 4 June

Cairns Art Gallery launches its latest exhibition tonight, 'Contemporary Indigenous Textiles from Australia’s Tropic Zone', presented in partnership with the Court House next door. A paid bar will feature at this casual event, 5:45pm start.

One of the world’s best Queen tribute performances is right here in Cairns. Head to CPAC to see Bohemian Rhapsody, which doesn’t skip on all the theatrics, flamboyance and stage energy for which the band are renowned. Tickets essential.

Saturday's the day for markets, it seems!

The Gordonvale Cottage Market is on from 8am to midday, while the Koah Monthly Market will run from 9am to 1pm. The Atherton Markets are also on from 7am to 1pm today.

Cairns African Festival kicks off today at Tanks, featuring workshops, food, arts and craft stalls and performances, as well as free drumming workshops! 1pm start, tickets essential.

It’s Espresso Martini Festival + Laneway’s 2nd Birthday today! From 12pm to 10pm, you can indulge in coconut, vanilla and caramel espresso martinis all afternoon, while booging by the pool with beats by DJ Fred Cuzon. Tickets essential.

Multi-award-winning country musician Troy Cassar-Daley will join hip hot artist Dizzy Doolan for a free show on the Court House Gallery lawns tonight. Limited capacity, venue opens at 6pm.  

Sunday 6 June

More weekend markets! Palm Cove Markets will be on from 8am to 2pm along the Esplanade, while those spending Sunday in the Tablelands might like to drop into the Tolga Markets from 7:30am till midday.

Guyala Café is hosting an Ikebana Floral Art Workshop today, teaching participants the traditional Japanese art of floral arranging. 2 to 4:30pm, bookings required.
